Use your cell phone as a modem

If you’ve ever been somewhere with a laptop and no internet connection, than my friend you have entered the stoneage. Gasp* No internet to be able to update your facebook or twitter account while at grandmas! Now what? As a designer I find myself always needing to get online, and if your like me and you own a smartphone (proud owner android) but didn’t want to pay the ridiculous monthly fees to have a separate broadband adapter for your laptop, than this post is just for you. With all the money I’ll save you why don’t you buy me lunch.

Here’s how it works:

You will need PdaNet from JuneFabrics, which will allow your phone to connect to the computer via USB.
Next, install the application on your phone as described on their site.
Plug in your phone with a USB cable
Click connect from your computer, and your done!

I tested it myself on my android phone and it works like a charm.
